CHAIRLADY’S CORNER 4 SEP 2008
• CONGRATULATIONS to the swimmers who participated at Nationals and made a record showing for our club! Also a BIG thank you to Zoe for the long days and hard work during both the Youth and Age Group
Championships. We are looking forward to another successful year!!!
• FUND RAISING: We made £1000 with the Grand Draw, thank you to Jane Jordan and crew for the brilliant
organization! The Committee has recommend this be an annual event linked to our July Sprint Meet.
• TRAINING CAMP: The committee has looked at options for a training camp abroad. We have an option for next October (2009), but will need to get a feel for interest before we go further in booking. We are a bit concerned with the cost of flights, as they cannot quote us a price yet, which could make the cost fluctuate. Top, A and B squads will be getting further information and a request to let us know if you are interested.
• LEARN TO SWIM ACADEMY: Our swim school is re-shaping and implementing the new National Plan for
Teaching Swimming. Kate Oxbrow and Sophie Jennings are the Academy Managers and have been expanding our services to the children of Ipswich. For further information contact Kate or Sophie on 07704 806051.
• WATER POLO is continuing to grow and develop. We are looking to expand this section of the club and those wishing to look into a fantastic side of water sport, please try it out and invite your friends!
• The club extends BIG THANK YOUS to donations and sponsorship from Ipswich Renal Unit, £500
• As a CHARITY, we have been able to secure an additional £5500 through donations and gift aid! PLEASE help us keep the momentum going and get further donations!
• We are still seeking SPONSORSHIP through a large sponsor or several smaller ones. If you have contacts or ideas of companies in the area that might be interested, please contact Steve Redmond, or myself.
• We are now able to claim GIFT AID for any personal donations from tax paying individuals. We have already earned an additional £1000 since January. We will be making some proposals at the AGM to expand this opportunity.
• The AGM is around the corner, please mark your calendars for the 19th of November. Information will be sent to all members prior to the AGM and membership decisions will be made on this date. We look forward to seeing as many of our members as possible!
• ACCOUNTS are being carefully reviewed and updated to meet the standards for the Charity Commission. We are also using this time to develop a business plan for all aspects of the club making a careful review of costs, expenditures and projections.
