Water Polo

Welcome to the teamipswich water polo pages.

Water polo is an exciting Olympic sport that develops high fitness levels, ball skills and tactical team play. Players need to be competent swimmers, though you don’t have to be a national swimming finalist like two of the current Ipswich squad. New members will learn ball handling and team awareness in this enjoyable and fast-moving sport.

teamipswich water polo has two sessions a week at Crown Pools – on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8pm through to 9.20pm. Sessions usually comprise half an hour of swimming fitness training, followed by water polo training, skills and a practice match.

The club fields a side in the East Anglian Water Polo League’s winter and summer leagues, as well as in cup competitions and tournaments.

The last year has seen teamipswich building up its junior section, for boys and girls aged 10 upwards, but it is still keen to have more new members.

The junior side plays some matches and competes in East Region competitions.

There are some ladies in the squad and a ladies’ side would be fielded if numbers permit.

The club captain is Phil Trett. (Tel: 07866 246810)
